| 1 - What was your fitness goal when joining The Inner Athlete? What brought you to The Inner Athlete? My goal was to reestablish a fitness routine after becoming sedentary. I was blessed to be selected as a participant in a special Inner Athlete Boot Camp “intervention” with others who needed help. 2 – What made you to decide to make fitness a priority? I know that in order to fully participate in life, you need to be fit. The success I’ve experienced at The Inner Athlete motivates me to continue. 3 – How are you able to maintain your fit lifestyle? What have you learned from your trainers/classes? I have been able to maintain this fit lifestyle by allowing it to become a routine. Alondra has counseled me about the importance of working with heavier free weights (heavier than I would normally select) in order to build muscle. 5 - Do you have any motivating secrets for success? This quote about democracy motivates me; “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” This really hits home with me and reminds me that the only way I will sustain my current level of fitness is by continuing and remaining aware of the food I eat. 6 – What is your current workout schedule? I attend Boot camp 5 days a week and yoga once a week. 7 - What encouraging words would you say to someone who doubts the value of having a trainer? A trainer keeps you accountable and insures your time at the gym is spent wisely. You can’t afford not to have a trainer. You either pay now, or you pay later with ill health and medical bills. 8 - What are some of your favorite workout styles? I like boxing, kickboxing, and working with the weighted fitness (medicine) balls. 9 - What is your next fitness goal? My next fitness goal is to strengthen my weakest area, my core. Also, I'd like to improve my 5K & 10K times. 10 - Who do you look up to for fitness inspiration? I look up to Bay Area native (and former sugar addict) Jack LaLanne, the US Women’s Hockey team, & ultramarathoner, Dean Karnazes. |
