A - My goal when I joined the Inner Athlete was to lose weight and get into shape. What brought me here was my co-worker and friend Kaye (Inner Athlete Trainer). She really motivated me to get started and gave me the confidence I needed to know that I would do well in boot camp. Q – What made you to decide to make fitness a priority? A - I was just tired of being out of shape and sick of being unhappy with my body. Once I started going to Boot Camp, I realized how potentially effective the classes could be for me, which is what motivated me to come to class every day. I know I’m getting a better workout here then I ever did when I spent hours alone at the gym. Q – What was your plan for weight loss and diet? A - In the beginning I didn’t really have a plan. I just attended a couple boot camps a week. But the more I came the more I enjoyed it and I was hooked. As far as diet, mine was pretty bad until I met with Alondra. She gave me the guidance and knowledge to make better food choices for myself. Also, I have ‘Meals to Go’ for dinner 3-4 times per week. Those have helped A LOT, especially since I can’t cook and I’m tired after work and boot camp. It is amazing to be able to have a healthy, perfectly proportioned, and yummy meal right away. Q – How are you able to maintain your fit lifestyle? What have you learned from your trainers/classes? A - I just make going to boot camp my number one priority and I try to plan everything else around it. I make sure everyone in my life knows that it is pretty much impossible for me to miss class, so if they want to hang out with me it has to be after! I’ve really learned how to work out properly from Alondra and the Inner-Athlete team. Now when I go to the gym on my own I know what to do and how to keep it interesting. I’ve also learned how to make better food choices for myself and what the proper food portions should be. Q - Do you have any motivating secrets for success? A - I’ve learned not to be discouraged by those times when I ‘fall off the wagon’ in terms of eating. Instead, I try to recognize the triggers that made me over eat and I don’t beat myself up over any mistakes I made. I’ve realized that this is a learning process and no one is perfect. But I also don’t use those ‘mess ups’ as an excuse to continue to eat badly. I just pick myself up and do better the next day. |
